Cargo Dry Pak is a desiccant that is specifically formulated to stop condensation from occurring inside the shipping and storage containers. It is effective at protecting shipping containers from mold, mildew, rust, and corrosion while goods are in transit. The active substances in Cargo Dry Pak are Calcium chloride, Bentonite clay, and Starch. Calcium chloride maintains the constant rate of absorption which makes Cargo Dry Pak a long-lasting desiccant for the shipping containers where it can sustain for a minimum of 50 days. It controls the humidity inside the container by continuously absorbing the moisture from the enclosed packaging and are designed to hold the moisture and not release it back into the container’s climate.

It is available in two different sizes:

  • 500 gm Cargo Dry Pak

Here, calcined clay particles with calcium chloride granules are packaged into packets made of Tyvek and spun-bonded Olefin with interiors coated for heat sealing. Standard packaging uses 30 Tyvek packets, each of 500 gm bags per box with a polybag liner.

  • 1500 gm Cargo Dry Pak

This packaging contains calcined clay particles with calcium chloride granules packed in packets made of Polyester/ Rayon blend in the proportion of 20% / 80%. Standard packaging uses 10 sewn bags, each of 1500 gm bags per box with a polybag liner.

Why choose Cargo Dry Pak?

Cargo Dry Pak is a mixture of clay and calcium chloride that helps in effective absorption inside the shipping containers by continuously absorbing the moisture trapped within the enclosed environment. This combination of materials makes cargo dry pak the best desiccant in avoiding oxidation that occurs in the presence of moisture. Moisture damage generally happens due to increased levels of humidity leading to condensation in the form of container rain or cargo sweat that causes mold, corrosion, rust, fungus, and mildew in the products during transportation.

Benefits of Cargo Dry Pak:

  • Inhibits the growth of mold & mildew, and prevents corrosion of the products.
  • Prevents the occurrence of Container Rain or Cargo Sweat in the shipping containers.
  • Effective at absorbing up to 200% of its weight in moisture.
  • Provides a minimum of 50 days of moisture protection.
  • It can be disposed of as normal waste and hence, eco-friendly to use.
  • Sorbead’s Cargo Dry Pak meets the requirements of MILD 3464-E and DIN standards.
  • The packaging material of Cargo Dry Pak is USFDA approved.

It is easy to use:

Cargo containers are the means for taking goods over long distances and careless packaging leads to the products arriving in damaged condition often due to penetration of moisture. The most common type of damage that occurs in shipping containers is caused by the moisture that somehow penetrates during the transportation and this way, thousands of shipments are hit by the moisture damage every year which further leads to the spoilage of products, causing a huge monetary loss spent in manufacturing and handling of the products. The packaging of CDP is done in two different types: 500 gm and 1500 gm, these packets are used in specific quantities depending upon the levels of the moisture.

These desiccant packets are hanged from the lashing point on the inner wall such that a safe distance of 5-10 cm is maintained between the desiccant and the goods. The desiccant surface is left open as it allows for effective moisture absorption when it directly comes in contact with air. As the desiccant increases in volume after absorption of moisture, an appropriate space should be left inside the container so that the minimum safe distance parameter is not compromised. After completing the process, the container door is closed and prepared to leave for the destination.
